Should I go for a unique bouquet?

I did an internet search for non-traditional and unique bridal bouquets.
While I love the thought of simply elegant orchids, I have been toying the idea of something off-the-wall.
Here are some pics that came up in my search.

Perhaps shape my bouquet into an object, like a cake?

What about a cascade of flowers? Or would this take away from a dress?

 Feathers sticking out?
How bout some fruit mixed in?
Maybe lots of bling and jewelry flowers?

Wedding Bands!

I went wedding band shopping with my friend yesterday, and it's very clear i am a vintage girl. Here are some pics of what I might have made!

This first one from Penny Privielle is probably my favorite one that I tried on.
I thought the bubble appearance of this one from Tiffany was super unique.
This one is also from Tiffany and awesome.

Did you know  that one third of all childhood deaths are caused by under nutrition?
And that an estimated 190 million children suffer from vitamin A deficiency worldwide?

A simple, cost-effective vitamin A capsule each six months can prevent blindness and reduce under-five mortality by 23 percent.

Whole Foods Market’s current podcast shares the story of Vitamin Angels, an organization that is profoundly changing the life’s of children around the world by connecting children under five with vital nutrients they need to survive and thrive.

To raise awareness of Vitamin Angels, Whole Foods Market will donate $1 for the first 5,000 people that share their thoughts in response to the Viva Vitamin Angels podcast in November.

Wedding Invitations by Ajalon Printing & Design

I kinda don't like to think about my future wedding. It's terribly overwhelming. So much to think about, so much to do, what do I want?, is my fiance gonna agree?, will my parents agree?. Oy-freaking-vay!

Well one consensus (yes just one) is that the wedding invitation will be ethnically oriented. The only problem is that India is half-way around the world. To go there and choose invitations or to pray to God that the internet order will happen is not something I'm interested in doing.

So it was a lovely surprise when Ajalon Printing & Design approached me to review their wedding invitations because they have Asian designs in their collection.... AND it won't cost an arm and a leg to get them.

Their pricing is below the average boutique and the initial consultation by phone or in person is free!

Ajalon designers will work with you to get the invitation you want at a price you will love!

And I know you'll be pleased with their work. The samples I received were on extremely high quality material with impeccable design detail.

My personal favorite is the Sakura design pictured below in various shades of white/beige. Beyond invitations, you can get the design of your choice as place cards, RSVP cards, directions, etc too!

Check out Invitations by Ajalon to view their invitation gallery and their current pricing specials. They also have a fantastic blog where they feature the latest news regarding designs, paper and anything else you need to consider with regards to your invitation.

Click on the picture for this great deal and hurry because it ends 11/30/2010!

                                 HAPPY WEDDING PLANNING!

First BCBG, now Dolce and Gabbana

Did you check out the Summer 2011 line for Dolce and Gabbana?

Normally I can't afford high-end luxury clothes, but don't we ladies all splurge on a dress for that special day? Our wedding day?

Now I know this collection is not bridal, but it could be... couldn't it?

Some of my favorites, which I just might wear for my big day, whenever it may be as everyone keeps asking me. But come on people, I only got engaged 2 weeks ago!

Though isn't it clear that I am tending towards short dresses?

Upcoming CSN Review

I'm settling into my new apartment, and the first and most obvious thing... it's tiny. It's super tiny in comparison to my place in Denver. The guy who lived here before me left all of his furniture which has been very helpful, but I'm noticing that the dining room table is just too big. So I've been searching online for dining room tables and am loving every little thing I see.

Now I'll look at the ones that will actually fit in my place!

If you've been reading my other blog by chance, then you've been introduced to Ginger. Stay tuned for a review on a retractable doggie leash with built-in doggie bags. Lord knows Ginger can poop!

Simply Glamorous

As a blogger who hosts giveaways, I also enter many around the blogosphere myself. I was very fortunate to be the winner of a gift certificate to Galit Barak Jewelry on etsy.

The designer, Galit, works all the way around the world in Israel with a focus on crochet technique. Her work is precise, resulting in some of the most stunning pieces I've seen in the jewelry world.

I couldn't decide what I wanted because I wanted it all, so I went with simple glamour. This necklace with an onyx stone.

It's beautiful!

Alexa's Angels Giveaway! CLOSED

So I've been a huge sports fan for most of my life. Born and raised in Boston, it's pretty much automatic that I would become a citizen of Red Sox nation. Now of course I love all of our other teams as well, and I go to as many games as possible.

Having moved to Denver, I haven't dropped my loyalty to Boston. I have instead taken on a new batch of teams to support. And with that support, I must be the fashionista I am and match my outfits to team colors.

Clothing-wise, it's pretty easy to get female-oriented jerseys and tanks. Jewelry has been another endeavor entirely.

I didn't think I'd ever find a perfect piece of jewelry for the Colorado Avalanche, until I was perusing Alexa's Angels and found the Garnet and Gray Pearl Sterling Silver Necklace.

It's not the easiest to appreciate online, but around my neck it's a private-box worthy piece. I tend to wear a plain white zipped hoodie with the avalanche logo to games, so while I could focus on wearing skinny jeans and heels with my outfit, I didn't feel I ever looked like a fashionable fan... until now.

While the focus on Alexa's Angels jewelry is mainly inspirational pieces, you'll find on the website and in the hard copy catalog that there is a good variety in collections.

Beth Lang, the president and CEO of Alexa's Angels, has been creating jewelry since the mid-90s. Her inspirational jewelry line is meant to inspire heartfelt emotion in everyone who wears it. The most recent collection, Emma Rose, was launched this year and it consists of fashion-forward pieces that will work with any personality and any outfit.

In addition to the meaningful and fabulous jewelry, Alexa's Angels supports many organizations that empower women of all ages. And if you have a non-profit organization that could use a grant or product donation, you can apply on their website.

But for now, the focus is on bringing meaning and fashion to your life with Alexa's Angels jewelry... and the company has been kind enough to offer one of you the item of your choice up to $50 or the same Garnet and Gray Pearl Sterling Silver necklace!

To Enter:

REQUIRED: you must become a facebook fan of Alexa's Angels. This will be confirmed by the sponsor. Let me know in a comment that you're a fan. For privacy sake, you don't have to write your facebook name. If chosen, I'll ask via email. So please leave your email in the comment as well!

For a second entry, what would you like to own from Alexa's Angels?

Contest will end June 1st 2010

Lacokine Giveaway!

if it isn't obvious from most of my blog posts, I kind of have an obsession with jewelry. I never did before, but I keep stumbling upon amazing talent and it continues with this Korine necklace from Lacokine.

I immediately fell in love with its rustic appeal, and the asymmetry is so much fun. It's truly eye-catching and an overall great piece.

I met the designer behind Lacokine, Genevieve, who was kind enough to send me this necklace for the review and giveaway. Yes, my lovely readers, one of you will win this necklace!

Genevieve discovered jewelry-making as a hobby about two years ago. She stumbled upon a blog that talked about making handmade jewelry. As a person who always wanted to create, she was immediately captured and started creating.

While a hobby now, Genevieve hopes to make this a full-time career. Her inspiration comes from places like Etsy and materials such as semi-precious stones of all kinds! She loves working with briolettes and faceted stones. It's lovely and very inspiring.

Genevieve is addicted to vintage things as well! She recently opened another shop on Etsy who's named LacOprint. This shop includes illustrations of vintage style or retro. She loves drawing vintage texture.

I encourage you all to check out both shops, as it will help you gain entries to win this Korine necklace from Lacokine!

To Enter:

Mandatory Entry: visit Lacokine and tell me your favorite piece

Second Optional Entry (only counts after the above entry): Visit LacOprint and tell me your favorite item.

quietlove Giveaway! CLOSED

If you've been reading my other blog at all, you'll find that I have found love. Actually love found me, and it's making me crazy.

It's exciting, scary, wonderful, time-consuming, fast-paced, amazing... it's so many things tied up in a knot. I don't know what's going on half the time.

Yet in whichever direction the rope twists... in spite of the giant knot that has been created in my life... I am the happiest I've ever been.

It's funny because this all made sense to me when I saw these Knotted Love earrings from quietlove. They're a simple yet complicated, beautiful and creative. I don't know where the wire ends and it's comforting in many ways.

I won't go into further depth as I might have confused myself further with the way my life is going, so I'll just focus on Izabella, the designer behind quietlove, and her talent.

Feminine, soft, delicate... and for me comforting. All of her pieces are beautiful and crafted to your satisfaction.

Izabella has been making jewelry for approximately 4 years. She is inspired by New York City, her travels and all the people around her. She loves etsy as a forum to share and discuss crafts.

Currently Izabella is working on screen-printed prints for a new home decor etsy shop that she will be opening hopefully very soon. I know I can't wait!

But for now, the focus is jewelry and as a treat for all of you Izabella has offered one of you the chance to win an item of your choice from her shop!

PJHillco Crochet Giveaway! CLOSED

CROCHETED COTTON SANDALS

I am always amazed by what people can make by hand. In my internet searching for baby shower gifts I stumbled upon a pair of baby sandals that from a distance looked basic, but when I received them and took a look up close were amazing!

Julie, the designer behind PJHillco, has been crocheting since she was a child. Her mother taught her the basics, but her talent took off from there. Now she has been crocheting for 40+ years!!!

In particular, Julie loves to crochet for babies. She feels as if she is sharing in the joy of a newborn baby every time she makes a baby bib, a pair of booties or a hat!

What impresses me the most about Julie's work is her stitching. Her talent rivals everything you buy in the store, but moreso because it's hand-made and one of a kind.

I gave the crocheted sandals she made to a co-worker of mine who is having a baby girl in approximately 1 week. The sandals were the hit of the party as no one had ever seen anything like them.

There is nothing I love more than being the best gift giver, and with the help of Julie I can give one of you a great gift from PJHillco.

Julie has generously offered to give one of you the item of your choice up to $10 from her shop. Since approximately 75% of the items in her shop is $10 or under, you have a great selection of items to win!

To Enter:

Visit PJHillco and come back and comment with your favorite item. It does not have to be the item you would choose as the winner. Please leave your email in the comment as well.

Sarah Keyes Jewellry Designs CLOSED

I'm a big fan of the statement piece. I like way it looks. I like the attention it brings. But of course... it's gotta be the right statement.

I found Sarah Keyes Jewellry online and immediately coveted all of her pieces. She has this incredible talent where she laser cuts acrylic into various images and puts together an impressive piece of jewelry.

I came acrose the La Rose Noir necklace and knew I needed to have it around my necklace. It's a large rose, beautifully cut, gracing my sternum. It's big but not over the top. It's also elegant and inviting.

Sarah has always had a passion for creating things since she was a little girl, especially jewelery. She would use various materials from shells, plastacine, pasta, and anything else she could find! A few years ago she did an evening course which re-awkened her passion and then led onto a 3D design and jewelery-making course

She hasn't looked back. Nothing makes Sarah happier than creativity. She is inspired by the desire to create original and unique jewellery that doesn't cost a fortune. And in particular, she loves to replicate vintage and antique pieces, giving them a modern day twist by using laser cut technolgy with acrylic.

I've received several compliments on my La Rose Noir necklace and I know one of you will receive many compliments too as Sarah has offered to give one you the item of your choice from her shop up to $28!

To Enter:

Visit Sarah Keys Jewellry and comment with your favorite item. It does not have to be the item you would choose to win. Be sure to leave your email in the comment!

If you can't wait to win, Sarah is offering 10% of the value of orders that have come through this blog. Simple message her on etsy with the code ETSY10 along with your order and it will be deducted.

Lisa D Jewelry Giveaway! CLOSED

The other day, the guy I'm dating (and like a lot) called me a snob. He said it was a compliment, and while most women would feel hurt by that comment... I owned it.

I am a snob. I like the finer things in life. I like high quality. I like high end.

In fact, I'll go out and make it happen if I'm not getting it. Which is what I'm doing now by making wine. Pinot Noir in fact.

The batch is going to be ready by May 15th, and I can't wait! It's tough getting good wine in colorado.

So for my wine's debut, I've been trying to come up with the perfect outfit. I figured I'd wear a burgundy or black dress, more casual than cocktail since I'm inviting my coworkers and friends. As for jewelry, I couldn't decide until I received some earrings from Lisa D Jewelry.

She sent me these gorgeous pair of earrings that look like grape clusters. They're amazingly beautiful and of such high quality... and affordable!

I can't wait to wear them in May for my wine party!

Lisa remembers making jewelry as early as the age of 10, when she made some and tried to sell it at the school fair. It halted for a bit after that until she became a realtor and inspecting a house in 2001. The current home owner was also a jewelry-maker and Lisa realized she could do the same thing.

She set off to learn and create and eventually impressed a local boutique in LA that is her highest grossing store!

Living in LA, fashion world is her inspiration. Lisa follows the designers to see what colors and trends are coming. She also lives by the beach, making the ocean and nature important to her work.

2006 was Lisa's last year of real estate, and she has been persuing her jewelry making full time since then. With the ups and downs of the economy, it has been an interesting time (to say the least) but Lisa keeps going.

And as a very generous gift to all of you, Lisa has offered to give one of you $30 towards her etsy shop!

To Enter:

Visit Lisa D Jewelry and comment with one or more items you'd like to use the $30 towards.

Lily Lady Blue Giveaway! CLOSED

Do you have an obsession with Vampires?

I do

It started with the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer, moved forward to Angel... and now I can't get enough of Twilight or True Blood.

What better way to attract a vampire than to draw attention to your neck? With this Beautiful Swarovski Ruby Crystal True Blood Lariat, I think I was able to do just that.

This necklace is beautiful! The beads are more of a pink than red and because it's a lariat style, it can be tied into different lengths. I think on average, it hangs between 18 and 20 inches when I tried it.

Lyssa, the designer behind Lily Lady Blue, created this necklace.

She had always wanted to make jewelry and hair accessories but never found the time until approximately a year ago when one of her dearest girlfriends was getting married. Lyssa has always been crafty by trade since she works as a theatre costumer, but never had really tried jewelry.

When asked to be in the wedding, Lyssa accepted and wanted to do something special for the bride. Lyssa offered to make the jewelry for the bride and the bridal party! At that moment, she started to research how to make jewelry and bought some books on how to wire wrap. Since then, it kind of created a monster!

Lyssa hasn't stopped making jewelry since! She has worked on Broadway and elsewhere in wardrobe for 14 years, but would love to simply make jewelry and hats for a living.

Lyssa loves the creative process and her Etsy shop is fun since she also loves photography and takes all her own photos. She loves working with top notch materials like swarovski crystals and sterling and filled gold wire and vintage findings for her hats and hair accessories.

Lyssa want to put out the best product she can... and she does... and she wants to give it to one of you!

This gorgeous necklace is going to one of you lucky readers!

Jewels of Denial Giveaway! CLOSED

Jewels of Denial contacted me to write about their jewelry, the focus being on sterling silver. This was a great chance for me to find a gorgeous pair of sterling silver earrings because I simply didn't have any!

I went through most of the site and found this pair of twisted ribbon sterling silver earrings and chose them. From the website, I wasn't sure what I was going to get. But once I received them in the mail and put them on, I knew I was wearing a high quality pair of earrings.

Plus, I love the way they twist around my ears and create a great shine!

As I perused the site further, I noticed I kept reading the words "sterling silver." Does anyone actually know what sterling silver means? I hear it all the time, but have never actually tried to figure it out... until now.

Pure silver is a soft metal. It's often mixed with other metals to create an alloy that is stronger. According to Jewels of Denial, "True sterling silver is stamped with .925 for authenticity, although it does have a slight mix of other metals such as zinc or copper to make it less prone to damage."

I've had sterling silver items in the past and the problem I would have with them is the green tarnish that would build-up as the silver oxidized over time. I can't polish my silver on a daily basis, so what I love about Jewels of Denial silver jewelry is that they apply a polished rhodium finish to the sterling silver jewelry to maintain its glossy finish for many years.

Though it will eventually tarnish, this can be delayed based on several factors such as how much the jewelry is worn, how it is stored, the climate in which the jewelry is sent, etc. A quick cleaning with some good tarnish remover and a metal-friendly cleaner is all that it takes.

Glossy indeed and now glossy for you as Jewels of Denial has sponsored a giveaway of any pair of earrings of your choice for one of you!

The Jewelry Bar Giveaway! CLOSED

We recently had the stock show here in Colorado, and there were cowboys from all over the place presenting their livestock and selling whatever people needed to run a farm. But of course fashion was included.

Now I dropped $200 (yes, i'm crazy) on an authentic cowboy hat. I've been wanting one forever and the seller helped me pick the right one and then custom-steamed it to fit my head perfectly.

Everyone complimented my hat from that point forward and some jewelry sellers tried to get me to buy a lariat to complete the outfit. I did a quick look-over, but nothing really struck me as fashionable, elegant... yes I want to be a fashionista cowgirl.

So I did my own search for lariats and I found this gorgeous one from The Jewelry Bar. It's delicate around my neck. It adjust to variable lengths. It's fashionable and elegant.

Yoon, the designer behind The Jewelry Bar, started making jewelry about 7 years ago as a hobby. Her hobby became profitable shortly after when people started asking to buy her stuff.

Yoon is inspired mostly by nature, classic films, color of gems, well dressed women and just about anything and everything. As you can see she has combined leaves and a gorgeous gemstone on the necklace she sent me. Did I mention I love it?

Yoon is always learning and her next project is to design her own unique metal components and incorporate them into her jewelry pieces. She currently searches all around the globe for unique materials and gemstones. Her materials come directly from India, Thailand and South Korea just to name a few.

Most of her pieces can be customized with different choice of gemstones and metals, so you'll be guaranteed to get exactly what you're looking for with her pieces. In fact she does many custom pieces, especially for the brides!

So let Yoon help you get exactly what you'd like from her shop as she is offering one of you the chance to win this gorgeous Wind necklace!

Ginas Kreations Giveaway! CLOSED

It's that time of the year when I'm just sick of the cold weather. I'm tired of the darker days. I'm looking forward to warmth and sunshine.

It's funny because I'm not a big fan of being out in the sun. I don't need a tan (or melanoma), but I do love the brightness, the happiness, the yellow.

Yellow is one of my favorite colors. Not only does it brighten my mood and bring a smile to my face, but with my skin tone it really makes me stand out.

When I saw this yellow necklace from Ginas Kreations, I instantly felt better all bundled up in my frigid apartment. I contacted Gina and she was kind enough to let me review it.

The necklace looks gorgeous on me. It's even better than pictures. I love the clasp as it's easy to put on without me having to twist the necklace around my neck to see the clasp in the mirror. It's a heavy piece that really makes a statement and draws attention to me.

I smile while I'm wearing it.

Gina got started making jewelry when she saw a necklace that a co-worker made. The co-worker took her to the bead shop, and Gina was amazed by all of the beads and the possiblity of the things that could be made.

All of Gina's pieces are one of a kind. She does not do multiples of one item because she buys beads from all over the place. Her husband and she like to travel and Gina always find a bead shop where ever they go. She buys beads along her travels, so naturally there are some beads that she cannot obtain again.

Secretly, I'm glad. I love my yellow necklace so much and even though I know it would bring a smile to everyone's face, I'd like to keep my smile the biggest and brightest.

A big thank you to Gina for sponsoring this review and bring warmer weather that much closer... and an even bigger thank you to Gina for offering to bring a smile to one of your faces!

Gina has generously offered the chance for one of you to win any item in her shop up to $15!

By the Belt Giveaway! CLOSED

I have a hard time finding belts. I'm a pretty small person with an hour glass figure. I got these nice child-bearing hips, but most of my clothes tend to hang on them that I often wish I had a great belt.

The problem I have with most belts, however, is that I need a notch or two past the last notch. Good luck finding that in the adult womens' section of a store.

And what makes this problem worse for me is the fact that I want fashionable belts. They are great accessories to change the mood, feel, fit of any outfit.

Then I found By the Belt. Vered, the designer, custom-made a gorgeous lace belt for me that fits perfectly and makes any outfit romantic.

Vered has actually been creating beaded jewelry for 7 years and that has been her main focus. (Check out her jewelry here: Veroque.Etsy.com).Then it happened that about a year ago, she needed a belt for a special family event. Unable to find exactly what she was looking for anywhere, she decided to bead one herself instead.

She made it from about 4000 tiny beads, each sewn by hand using a needle and thread. The result was a very chic and pretty belt... and this is how she came to the idea to pursue belt-making more formally. She wanted to make them simple, stylish, from interesting materials, etc AND affordable. And that is how her shop By the Belt was born.

Vered is very accomadating (across the world in Israel!) and prompt with her work. While international shipping takes 10-21 days, I didn't wait too long before I received my beauty.

And now Vered would like to give one of you a free skinny belt in the color of your choice. It's a gorgeous, hand-made, fashionable belt that will surely be a staple in your collection!

The Art of Emily Balivet CLOSED

Mystical and ancient goddesses have graced our literature, inspired much of our music and existed at some point during time. What better way to celebrate and embrace women than with color and whimsy, fantasy and desire?

The Art of Emily Balivet does just that. Emily has been a creative individual for most of her life and decided to make a living from her art at the early age of 17. Originally from Alaska, finding something interesting to do indoors for extended periods of time was a necessary survival skill and painting was her top choice.

Music, literature, and great works of art are her inspiration. In addition, Emily's own paintings drive her to create more. She often closes her eyes at night and envisions herself painting. The visions blow her away and keeps her going probably more than anything else.

I, myself, am a huge fan of mythology and ancient religions. When I found Emily's art, I was blown away by her talent. I fell in love with the Red Goddess and Emily was kind enough to send me this print to decorate my walls.

And now Emily would like to blow one of you away by giving one of you the 8x10 print of your choice from her shop.

Juliana's Creations Jewelry Giveaway! CLOSED

I am always amazed at the talent I find on the internet, especially when the quality of work is fantastic and affordable. What impresses me more is the time and effort the artisans I review put into their products. I know creativity is a gift. I also know how much work it is... and I am even more amazed when someone with serious medical issues pushes through and uses their talent, their art, as a form of healing.

Afterall, "Art is Healthy" as Juliana from Juliana's Creations Jewelry has been made clear through her line of Art Is Healthy t-shirts.

Juliana has been making jewelry for 25 years. She started as a teenager when her mother, who worked near the theater district in NYC, brought home some beads and cool items. Juliana began creating straight away.

In 1993, she became very ill as a grad student. Initially doctors thought she had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. It kept her home for years, but with the ability to order beads by mail, Juliana made a lot of jewelry. Now 17 years later, with a new doctor on board, Juliana has a diagnosis of hypoadrenia (low adrenal function) and other hormone imbalances. She is now is working towards a cure with bioidentical hormone replacement therapy known as BHRT... and continuing to make incredible jewelry to help her heal.

Her inspiration comes from beads, fellow artisans, magazines, etc. She sees potentially endless combinations in the materials! There are a few stores in Connecticut that keep her busy making things. As for the future, she simply plans to keep expanding Juliana's Creations by creating new items, doing craft shows, selling on Etsy, working with stores.

Juliana's products are classic, tasteful, and approprate for work and formal occasions. She works primarily with freshwater pearls, gemstones, and glass. She always uses the best quality materials and combines them with an excellent design sense for beautiful jewelry.

And now Juliana would like to add to your good health by offering one of you the chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Juliana's Creations Etsy store!

Latherati Soap Giveaway! closed

BLOSSOM handmade soap inspired by The Secret Garden

soap inspired by literature with an awesome lather!

Remember in elementary, middle school and high school we were all required to read a whole bunch of books in English class? I'm an engineer and clearly a lover of math, but great literature is a true gift, with themes and lessons that will last us a lifetime.

Moreso, an amazing story that will inspire us... just like The Secret Garden inspired Julie of Latherati Soap to create this BLOSSOM scented soap.

The soap surely smells like a secret garden... though one that I do not want to keep a secret, and instead want to share with all of you. Not only does it smell clean and wonderful, but the lather it produces is fantastic!

Julie started making soap about 10 years ago while in North Dakota. Not a fan of cold weather, she searched for a hobby and quickly fell in love with soapmaking. She did a lot of research and learned as much as she could about the various benefits of oils, butters and additives. She has been playing in the kitchen making soap ever since!

Literature is Julie's first inspiration. She loves to read and seems to always be able to smell a story. "There's nothing like transporting yourself into the lives of the characters in books. Books always offer something...add something to your life, whether it be a moral or a new way of looking at things...ideas to ponder."

Julie's soap is different from other soaps in that she hopes to inspire passion for literature. She wants to keeping read alive and well and pass that gift along to everyone, especially all of you... well one in particular as Julie has offered one of you the chance to win two bars of handmade soap and a 4 oz. bottle of body lotion in your choice of scent!

feltplanet giveaway! CLOSED

Lily Pad Felt Bowl in 3mm Virgin Merino Wool

The last time I touched felt was in arts and crafts during elementary school. I always found it to be a curious material. It was thick. It took time to cut, but if you got a cool shape out of it... it lept off the page. It was better than crayons and watercolor paint. It was tangible, touchable... able to be felt ;)

Tracy, of feltplanet, "felt" the same way when she was handed some samples of a felt unlike any she had ever seen back in 2005. Thick, dense, warm, wonderful and vibrant, she was amazed. The felt was at once simple but luxurious, basic but elegant. It was 5mm thick felt from Germany.

Busy with work and family, the felt sat on her desk for about 4 years when she finally took the leap and started creating. Tracy's inspiration is the felt itself. She is in awe of this most basic of materials. It is natural, renewable, reusable and Earth-friendly.

It is an ancient 'technology', but still possesses characteristics that can't be duplicated by any other material. It's naturally heat resistant, durable, warm and wonderfully touchable. Tracy is constantly eyeing items made from other materials and thinking... "oh that would be great made with felt!"

Tracy sent me this adorable lily pad bowl made from felt. It is made from slightly thinner felt (3mm as opposed to 5mm), Though seemingly delicate, the lily pad bowl is quite durable and handy for smaller items. I have it in my bedroom holding an assortment of rings.

As Tracy likes to put it, the lily pad bowl is "a tiny extravagance for your tiniest treasures!"

And now one of you has the chance to win a lily pad felt bowl in your choice of color OR $15 to be used towards her shop if there is something else that you'd rather have.

ModTotSpot Giveaway! CLOSED

First my friends started getting married, then they started having babies. One thing I learned while shopping for baby showers is just how EXPENSIVE baby clothes can be, and the wearable time is too short!

I wondered if I could find cute baby clothes that were high quality and affordable... and then I came across Mod Tot Spot.

Racheal, the designer, felt the same way as I did about baby clothes when she started having kids. Like most moms, she paid whatever price she had to, so her baby could have cute style.

Once her third child was born, Racheal wanted cute but functional baby items at a reasonable price. She attempted to sew and her first bib was a disaster. Her husband couldn’t even tell it was a bib!

With a lot of practice and a ton of trips back and forth to the fabric store she came up with something she was proud of. After making things for her daughter and friends, she decided to start an Etsy shop, turning her hobby into an effort to pay for my fabric addiction.

Racheal's goal with her shop is to make a million babies look even cuter than they already are, and though this blog she has offered to help one of your babies (or your friend's baby) do just that!

One of you will win this onesie and burp cloth in size 3-6 months

ljlh designs giveaway! CLOSED

Often times when deciding what jewelry to wear, the biggest question to answer is whether I should go with Gold, Silver or other. Wouldn't life be easier if I could just have all three?

Well it finally is with this tri color, metallic, paper bead necklace from ljlh designs. Libby, the designer, sent me this necklace for a review and it's been a great piece that goes with any outfit!

I especially love that the beads are PAPER! Libby makes these beads herself and when you check out her shop, you'll see an unreal talent unfold... or maybe fold ;)

Libby has been making jewelry since she was a kid. Her aunt makes jewelry and used to help Libby make things and showed her different techniques. Jewelry making was off and on until she started selling on Etsy in June 2009 and she hasn't stopped since!

Papers and beads are Libby's inspiration. She loves to make jewelry, or anything really, that is unique and different but also practical. Libby tries very hard to make all her jewelry wearable, too.

Not only did I find her jewelry wearable, but I am kind of obsessed with her paper beads. They're truly unique and you'd never believe you were wearing PAPER!

Well now it's time for you to believe as Libby is offering one of you the chance to win any pair of paper earrings of your choice!
